New before and after photos

Look at these beauties!

Custom PonyTail line!

I am so excited to launch my custom-made ponytail line! You can read more about it at www.hairextensions-nyc.com/hairextensions.htm

Below is a before and after shot of one of my clients. She chose a very natural look while other clients choose a more glamourous long thick pony.
I spoke to a patent attorney last week and am trying to patent the ponytail! Should be exciting! I need a good name for it...   ;)

I wanted to create a ponytail that was comfortable, easy to attach and look natural. Other ponytails on the market are so bulky and have those jaw-like clips that make it so obvious that the ponytail is a separate hair piece.  With my ponytail there is no way anyone could possibly know that it is not your real hair.
I launched the line three weeks ago and have so far sold 13 ponytails! You have to come in and try one on, they are unreal!

Back to Life for Cancer Survivors

I have had the unique experience of working with many women, of all ages (one as young as 22), who have undergone all types of cancer. Cancer pateients often lose all of their hair due to chemotherapy and opt to wear a wig. However, there comes a point after about 6 to 8 months after treatment that these women begin seeing their hair grow back, but they tell me that it is not long enough to forego wearing the wig and go back out into the world with super-short hair.

Several of these women have told me that the wig reminds them of being sick, and that they want to take it off, but are not happy with the look their newly-grown short hair provides.  And that is where clip-on hair extensions come in! :)

These before and after photos of one of my client shows the dramatic effect of the extensions. She looks so beautiful! I loved working with this client, she was so sweet and so badly wanted to make the extensions work. I honestly didn't think her hair was long enough for the clip-ons to work but I was so extremely determined to try.
I suppose I shoudl reach out more to cancer groups to make them aware of this option for cancer survivors who are in that "middle stage" -- meaning they are ready to take off the wig but are not ready to be seen with super short hair. Doing Tracy's set was a labor of love, I was so happy we could make it work for her. I layered each piece carefully and chose a loose curly hair so that it would blend with her short hair and not look "mullet-like." Although her wig was straight, straight hair extensions would not blend well. But once her hair grows a bit more she can easily straighten the extensions because it is human hair. Wow! What a remarkable day that was and I was so happy to see Tracy leave my hair studio with her wig in the bag and a big smile on her face!

Celebrity Watch!

Look how gorgeous she looks with her extensions! We transformed her short fine hair into long loose curls. She looks so stunning and the hair looked so natural. I have had the wonderful fortune of working with celebrities but most will not let me post their photos on my wall so I am very thankful that my beautiful and sweet client Natalia was so generous. The following photos show first the "before" shot and then the "after" shots (including an article about how glamorous she is in the news!

Length for Naturally-Thick (but short) Hair

Most clients that come to my salon have thin hair, but plenty of clients actually have thick gorgeous hair that simply will not grow.   It is so important for these clients to have their extensions custom-made because simply buying a cheap standard pack of hair extensions off the internet will make their hair look like a "mullet" (for lack of a better word!).   It seems counter-intuitive, but the thicker the client's natural hair, the thicker the extensions need to be so that the layers fall seamlessly and so that there is no separation between the natural hair and the longer extensions hair.

What I do for these clients is carefully measure their head and the length of each layer so that the extensions can be custom-fitted to fall exactly where they need to in order to make the extensions look like it is their natural hair, just more of it!

I chose this photo to illustrate my point. My client/model Mei has beautiful thick hair.  When hair is this short and cut into a bob, it is easiest to create a natural look using wavy extensions because the waves hide the short layer. But straight extensions can work too, so long as they are layered properly.

Better than WEAVES

I have many African-American clients who have used weaves for many years and tell me about the terrible effects of years of having their hair pulled out by this technique. Most of these clients tell me that they never considered clip-ons in the past because they feared they would be bulky, fall out and not match their texture. Yet those that "convert" to clip-ons never go back to the sewn in method after discovering that the clip-on technique is not damaging, looks completely natural, stays in for as long as you desire and is so much less costly because it does not require touch-ups. Below are some photos of my clients showing how natural the clip-ons look.

The following excerpt was written by one of my clients who has switched from weaves to clip-ons and is now a big fan:
For many years I was the sister that dreamed of longer fuller hair, but didn’t want the drama that came with getting tracks. After years of trying weaves and all the alternatives (glue, brazilin… you name it) and they just didn’t worked for my tightly coaled hair, I came across Hair Extensions NYC and learned about clips.  Now, I want to share my secret to hair peace with you! Why are clips a good luck?

  • Weaves glued or sewen loosen up and tracks show or hung off the head.

  • Save time. save 3+ hours at the salon every 3 months!

  • No more pain during application.

  • No more bumps. Yes, your significant other can play with your hair and not tell!

  • Choose your hair texture or the one you always desired without the commitment, but with the reliability you want. The clips won’t fall out.

  • Clips allow your hair to grow full and long by letting your scalp breath.  Yes, all hair textures can grow!

        • Since rocking clips 3 years ago, my hair has consistently grow 6 inches every year like clockwork!  If  your hair hasn’t grown in a while, clips will allows your hair to breathe.  You can take them out whenever you want, like at night so you can catch so good Zs. You can wash, condition and moisturize your hair without the tracks getting in the way.

Jessica can assist you with identifying your texture and color or the types you always desire. Or can put an order in from your hair spot and have her do the fitting and sew on the clips.

The hair is reusable for as long as you want it to.  I usually work with the set for a year and I save an average of $800 a year!   Clips are clearly the way to go....

PRESS! Hair Extensions NYC in the news!

Today's Black Woman magazine featured an article about my hair extensions line, and printed a before and after shot of my client and model Natalie wearing a kinky curly dark brown jeri-curl set of extensions. They looked so natural on her. Her own hair is relaxed straight but we curled the top of her hair using a tiny barrel curling iron, and the curly hair extensions "hid" the remainder of her straight hair. Gorgeous!
Fashion Manuscript featured an article about me and my hair extensions line using before and after photos of my client/model Shira. I love the tagline: "Lengths of Possibility" because there are so many possibilities with these extensions!
Still shot from FOX NEWS 23 featuring my Hair Extensions NYC line! Yes they tried the clip-on extensions on a MAN! But how funny that the clips stayed even though he had a crew cut...lol!!!
Oh my goodness! So I was thrilled when the EDITOR of Modern Salon (a well-known magazine in the beauty industry) asked me to make a set of hair extensions to use on her cover model. I custom-sewed a gorgeous platinum/golden blonde set. But when the issue came out I noticed that the stylist had massacred the hair! Yikes it is teased and cropped and wow did they do a number on it! But I'm still glad that they were able to use them and they wrote a lovely article about my work. I just wonder whether anyone was able to wear them ever again given that they were cut in such a bizarre way!
